At the world sprint championships held last weekend in Calgary, Christine Nesbitt set a new 1000 meter world record. She shattered it with a time of 1 min 12.68 sec, knocking almost 1/2 second off the old record which stood since 2006. This year, she has won six out of the six 1000 meter world cup races she has participated in.
Earlier in the day, she did not do as well as she wanted in the 500 meter race. She was a bit angry with herself, and she said that motivated her to push harder in the 1000.
Seeing her race that day was definitely motivational!
